  1. Some years ago a man by the name of Orme Giont lived in Ballinlobaun, Crossmolina. He was a landlord and lived where Patrick Flannery of the same address now lives.
    At that time there was no bank nearer than Castlebar, and Orme had some very urgent bank business to transact before nightfall. Even though Orme had the best racehorses in the county he could not be certain that one of them could do that journey in such a short time. THe journey was sixteen Irish miles and the bank's closing time was fast approaching.
    Luke Connor, Ballycorron, Crossmolina his workman was in the field. Orme wrote a note and gave it to Luke Connor telling him that if he were not in Castlebar before the bank had closed he would suffer a great loss. Luke Connor set out and
